The MAPS Academy Program

MAPS Academy students will have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for professional, cutting-edge careers in the health, medical, and paramedical fields. They will develop an understanding of what it means to become an advocate for health and healthy living. In order to achieve this goal, classes within the academy will work collaboratively to encourage curiosity and the desire to explore the medical and paramedical fields. Most importantly, MAPS students will demonstrate competency in the practical, social, and ethical practices needed to participate in these fields as well as the positive lifestyle choices to promote a healthy family, neighborhood, and community at large.

MAPS students may choose from a variety of medical and para- medical services electives, including Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Core, Medical Terminology, Medical Clerical Occupations, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP Chemistry, Physics, AP Psychology or Intro- duction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, AP Statistics, Parent and Child Development, Foods and Nutrition, Peer Assistant Training, and Computers. Even more choices are available. Just check with your counselor.
