EARTH DAY CLEAN-UP

Volunteer to help out at the Earth Day Clean-up through the City of Long Beach on Saturday, April 19th from 9-11am at the Belmont Pier.  Help keep our oceans clean and healthy.  Bring your own bucket or bag and meet on the sand, just east of the Belmont Pier.  If you have questions, please call (562) 570-1745.  Bring your friends, club members, and your Service Learning Log.

CHILDREN’S DAY

The organizers of The Children’s Day & Earth Day Celebration are looking for volunteers and would love to have your participation in the creation of the wonderful custom of Children’s Day.  Join the Children’s Day & Earth Day Celebration­­­­­ Saturday, April 26th.  Make our world a wonderful place! STOMP ON THE ROOF

Arts & Services for Disabled and Community Hospital of Long Beach, 1720 Termino Avenue, will be hosting the second annual Stomp on the Roof Festival Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 from 11am to 3pm in Long Beach! The purpose of the festival is to bring available resources to Long Beach residents, to bring awareness of the talents and capabilities of people managing mental health and developmental disabilities and to support and educate the families who love them. They will have a "Run Walk & Roll", drum circles, live music, drum art, food trucks, and many organizations providing information about their services. They are looking for volunteers to help set up, check-in/greet, and help with tear down after the event, among other tasks from 9am - 4pm. MINNIE GANT SCHOOL CARNIVAL

Minnie Gant Elementary needs volunteers to help out with their carnival on Saturday, May 17th anytime from 8am to 5pm.  They will need help with setup, monitoring rides, working game booths, cleanup, and more!  Please contact Mary Van Geffen at maryvangeffen@gmail.com.  Gather your friends and club members and don’t forget your Service Learning Log!

TUTOR A HOMELESS CHILD

Just one hour a week can make a difference in the life of a child.  No experience necessary!  Training is provided.  Apply online at:  www.schoolonwheels.org.

 

 

COMPUTER TUTORS NEEDED

Long Beach Brethren Manor is a senior apartment complex with a large computer room and many seniors who are learning how to do e-mail, Facebook and how to surf the web.  One-on-one tutoring by student volunteers has been very successful.  If you would like to volunteer, they would love to have you!  For more information, call the Resident Service Coordinator at (562) 427-3374.

 

 

WRAP PROGRAM LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

30-MINUTE BEACH CLEAN UPS
 
Meet on the beach at Granada Avenue in the Belmont Shore area on the third Saturday of each month to participate in the city’s 30-Minute Beach Clean Up. Free parking, bags, gloves, refreshments, and door prizes are available. Such an easy and constructive way to earn Service Learning Hours!
 
 
 
MONTHLY SEAL BEACH CLEAN UPS
 
On the fourth Saturday of each month, from 11am-2pm, Seal Beach clean ups will be conducted. Meet at 1st Street and Ocean, next to Rivers End Café. Parking passes, bags, and gloves are provided. Such an easy and constructive way to earn Service Learning Hours! Bring your log! 
 

FISHER-PRICE BEACH CLEAN UP

Meet at the Lone Sailor Memorial on Ocean Blvd., between Orizaba and Redondo Avenue on the 4th Saturday of each month.  Service Learning Hours are given, as well as snacks and water.  For more information, contact Audrey and Tom at:  fpbeachcleanup@hotmail.com.

FRADULENT ORGANIZATIONS
 
Do not perform Service Learning Hours without first checking with Ms. Womack in Rm. 801. Not all organizations that offer hours are legitimate and do not meet our guidelines. Please be sure to get approval from her beforehand.
