LBCC Upward Bound Programs provide fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The goal of the Long Beach City College TRiO Upward Bound Program is to prepare high school students from the Long Beach Unified School District area to enroll in and successfully complete a postsecondary education program. The Program accomplishes this objective by enhancing participants’ academic skills, personal motivation and confidence, which are needed to succeed in college. Upward Bound works with students who are from low-income families (according to US Department of Education guidelines) and / or are potentially the first generation in their families to attend college

EAOP Mission Statement |
The California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP) is a State legislated program established in 1978 that serves low income, first-generation students and/or students attending schools with traditionally low college-going rates. Cal-SOAP’s mission is to help students improve their academic performance and make information about post-secondary education and financial aid more widely available.
Service academy nominations
There are four service academies in the United States that require a nomination from an authorized nominating source.
Each academy offers young men and women a free college education at a highly-ranked, nationally-recognized academic program while preparing them for an officer's commission in the armed forces. The academies are: the Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy at West Point, and the Naval Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a Congressional nomination.
For more detailed information regarding the programs offered by each of the academies, you are encouraged to follow the links below. Each service academy has its own web site.
